(Woodbridge, VA) (September 2020) – Artists Aaron and Cassie Scales, owners of Brocoloco have completed a new mural on an exterior wall of the Rollingwood Shopping Center in Woodbridge, VA. The mural’s inspiration targeted local birds like blue jays and cardinals while giving the center a fresh, fun, and bright splash of color.

The goal for the mural was to bring art to real estate and to make a concrete wall more humane. Cathy Bernard, the owner of Rollingwood Shopping Center and President of HCM Corporation, said, “We wanted to enliven our community and we hoped it would make other property owners want to do the same.”

The mural was completed in April of 2020 and has since brought a lot of attention from passing shoppers. One shopper made a point to say, “It makes me smile.”

“We were really looking to bring some movement to the wall and birds are a fun concept, I mean who doesn’t love a good bird!” said Aaron Scales, owner of Brocoloco. “In light of COVID-19, this mural created a great way to be outside, get some fresh air, and still be able to maintain a healthy social distance.
